Hospitality

During my time at B3 Designers, I designed the interiors for TAKA, the Japanese restaurant in Marylebone under the supervision of B3’s Founder & Creative Director Mark Bithrey and associate. Located on the busy Marylebone High Street in London, Taka, the Japanese restaurant has been conceptualised and designed to stop passers-by in their tracks, and it does just that, with its strong use of contrasting dark and light timber, a striking wall feature, and a bespoke spiral staircase enclosure.

During my time at B3 Designers, I designed the interiors for The Malt Lounge and Bar at The Prince Akatoki London hotel under the supervision of B3’s Founder & Creative Director Mark Bithrey and associate. The space hosts an array of Japanese whiskies that are concealed during the day and effortlessly slide into position in front of the Georgian windows, to present an illuminated display of whisky bottles in the evening. Lit with seductive minimal wall lights is a material curation of dark stone, bronze countertops and traditional prayer panels.

During my time at B3 Designers, I was part of the team in charge of designing TOKii, an all-day multifunctional restaurant at The Prince Akatoki London hotel. It is designed to be a destination restaurant for both guests at the hotel as well as locals. Its carefully contemplated materials including basalt bricks, metals and light and dark carved timbers, harmonise to emit a sophisticated atmosphere. This complements the modern take on the Japanese cuisine served at the restaurant that includes a sushi counter and robata grill. Timber is dominantly used throughout, with the juxtaposition of light and dark carved timbers complemented by the basalt brick sushi counter front and concrete countertop.

During my time at B3 Designers, I designed the interiors of Caffè Cinquanta which offers a nostalgic yet vibrant Italian café alongside adjoining Playa, a South American cocktail bar and music venue under the supervision of B3’s Founder & Creative Director Mark Bithrey and associate - both in the heart of Marylebone, on Baker Street.

During my time in Japan, I was part of the team in charge of designing a small udon restaurant in Jingumae, Tokyo under the supervision of Ito Masaru, Founder & Creative Director of Ito Masaru Design Project / SEI.

RESIDENTIAL

While at B3 Designers, each designer had the opportunity to work on a hypothetical residential property in London. This initiative aimed to attract more residential projects, especially in the aftermath of the Covid lockdowns when the hospitality industry was facing challenges, and work opportunities were limited. The project in the link above what designed by me under the supervision of B3’s Founder & Creative Director Mark Bithrey and associate.

In 2023, I freelanced outside of regular working hours and contributed to the refurbishment of a London apartment in Islington. This project was conducted under the supervision of Sara Leonor, the founder, creative director, and dedicated furniture designer and maker at Sara Leonor Studio based in Islington. (As this project has recently been completed, photos of it will be uploaded in February-March 2024.)

RETAIL

During my time in Japan, I designed the stores of Atsuro Tayama and Cocktail under the supervision of Ito Masaru, Founder & Creative Director of Ito Masaru Design Project / SEI. The 2 brands share a retail space at a shopping mall in Shanghai, China. Both brands share the same owner, who happens to be an old client of Ito Masaru. The project posed a challenge as it had to accommodate both stores within a limited footprint of 126 square meters.

During my time in Japan, I was part of the team in charge of designing the Backlash Flagship store in Beijing, China under the supervision of Ito Masaru, Founder & Creative Director of Ito Masaru Design Project / SEI. Isamukatayama Backlash is a brand built on the pursuit of quality leather, employing numerous experimental techniques to create original materials and develop unique treatments and dyeing processes. They choose not to succumb to mass production processes, ensuring each piece is truly one of a kind.

During my time in Japan, I was part of the team in charge of designing the B’2ND store in the Roppongi Hills, Tokyo under the supervision of Ito Masaru, Founder & Creative Director of Ito Masaru Design Project / SEI. This project was a part of the recently refurbished men's floor within the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower.

Commercial

During my time in Japan, I was part of the team in charge of designing the Wash & Fold shop in Nakameguro, Tokyo under the supervision of Ito Masaru, Founder & Creative Director of Ito Masaru Design Project / SEI. This project was a component of the expansion of Wash & Fold locations throughout Japan.

During my time in Japan, I was part of the team in charge of designing the Wash & Fold shop in Hayama, Kanagawa under the supervision of Ito Masaru, Founder & Creative Director of Ito Masaru Design Project / SEI. This project was a component of the expansion of Wash & Fold locations throughout Japan. This site features a juice bar within the same building, linked internally.

During my time in Japan, I was part of the team in charge of designing the Wash & Fold shop in Hidari, Fuji under the supervision of Ito Masaru, Founder & Creative Director of Ito Masaru Design Project / SEI. This project was a component of the expansion of Wash & Fold locations throughout Japan.
